Snow, Snot, Ski, Sushi and Catan

By Mika Graham

Woke up to a 6-10 inches of snow this morning! There was a huge snow storm that blew threw Colorado.  Thankfully we did not see the high winds that they saw in Denver.   The skiiers in the house were anxious to get on the slopes, but we needed to wait for the plows to come first.

I love the quiet still that snow creates.  Made me miss my Ohio days.  I have such fond memories of walking by boys to Bassett Elementary School  with Belle and Nikki on the sidewalks, while the boys jumped in all the snowbanks on the way to school.   Ahhhhh……

Jason opted to allow the sores on his calves to recover a bit today in hopes of skiing tomorrow.  His rental boots fit so poorly yesterday.  It was stunning to see how quickly he got into a mess.  I felt so sorry for him!  And Raul didn’t feel like skiing either.  His sinus/cold/altitude issues were still driving him crazy.  I woke with him a ton of sinus pressure and a massive headache.  So the sickos, decided to hold down the fort here at the house.  Nothing wrong with napping and having some quiet time during Spring Break!

Scott took John, Kyle, Mihir and Ben to go ski midday.  They were gone several hours.   Both Mihir and Ben took a shot at their first 6 person lift and came down several awesome green runs.  The snow was soft and fluffy for falling!    Huge improvements were made by all!

When the skiiers returned, John convinced the crew to play a board game he had brought from home while I worked on the blog at the kitchen table.  It wasn’t long before I heard this coming from the room next door:   “Why are the sheep so shitty”,  “Does it matter which way the road goes?”,  “Let’s all blockade John”,  “My-Hear, build a city!”,  “Repeat the part where it says I can steal again?”, “I need more wood”,  “Ohhhhh, its so random”!   The game is called Catan, and they highly recommend it.

I can’t tell you how much enjoyment I get from just hearing them laugh and have a good time together.   Love all these boys.

Between all the snacking during the game and how hard it is to get a reservation for 8, I made a 9:30 reservation at Blue Fish-Breckenridge. The food, service and atmosphere were awesome, but the altitude caught up with John and he wasn’t feeling well.  Dinner was quick and short.  John went to bed with a big bottle of water and felt better quickly.  Meanwhile, the boys headed to the hot tub out on the back patio!   This was their view while sitting there steaming/freezing/laughing/yelling!
