Sleepover for Charlotte

By Mika Graham

Throwing this young lady’s birthday party is one of my favorite things to do every year!  I love planning the party with her.  I love watching her have a good time with her friends.  I love getting to know her friends a little.  I love buying girly things in general.  Next week Charlotte turns 15 and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with her!

Last night, Charlotte invited 10 friends over for a sleepover at my house.  They giggled and talked…..talked and danced…..talked and sang.  Oh and they ate fruit!  Nana makes the best fruit trays with chocolate dip and they remember them from previous years.

I tried to get photos…..I wish I had done a better job.  I should have said, look at the camera and had made more of an effort to get the camera in front of the girls.  They were busy having a good time, and I didn’t want to intrude.

When my boys have their friends over, they may chat a bit, but for the most part, it is a competitive video/computer game they are after.  They wanna see who they can beat!  The girls aren’t really interested in anything other than talking and giggling with each other.   I love every minute of watching and listening to them.    Girls can talk circles around the boys at this age and for a long time in my opinion. 😉

Oh and then there is my perfect little dog Lilly.  She let all the girls carry her around like a baby.  She cleaned the floors wonderfully as well.  I think I’ll keep her.

I can’t celebrate Charlotte without thinking about her sweet Mama who sacrificed so much to bring her into this world. I wish she was here to remind me how many shots she gave herself in the the stomach to get her here.

I miss you so much Kara!  Thank you for giving us a girl who is so much like you….  I know you always thought she was more like me, than you.  But you are wrong!   Kara, she is just like you!   During the party, I caught a glimpse of Charlotte’s handwriting and it struck me how much it looks like yours.   She also has a deep love and devotion to her friends….just like you when you were 15.     She will always be yours, sweet sister.  Love is the answer!
