As many of you know, I have been on a personal quest to find a organization where my gifts, skills and time will make a difference in my community. And a big part of that quest is to be committed to trying new things!
Today is The Big Event down at Aggieland. Since its introduction in 1982, The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Each spring, tens of thousands of Texas A&M students come together to say “Thank you” to the residents of Bryan and College Station. My local chapter of Aggie Moms held an event here locally to support the event. I signed up immediately. 🙂 19 Aggie moms met Saturday morning in Richardson at “Feed My Starving Children”.

We spent spent almost 2 and a half hours packing food packs to be sent all over the world to feed children in need. Yes, we wore hair nets and looked super cute. They played fun music over the speakers and had little mini competitions to see which table could pack the quickest. We all worked hard and it was really was fun!
Their facilities are impressive and perfectly laid out. You could tell there was a tremendous amount of thought put into every part of the experience. There was a small push to donate to the cause during the event, but it didn’t feel pushy….after all, we were there volunteering our time. I made a nice donation, and I’m sure others did as well….successful for Feed my Starving Children! Not to mention, I would love to go back and pack again with friends! It was fun!
