Scott and I do everything we can to not miss our boy’s band concerts…..always have….always will. We love seeing our boys in their happy place and hearing what they have been working on. The Texas A&M Wind Symphony performs several times a year on Sunday afternoons in College Station in the Rudder Theater. Scott and I usually drive a round trip to have lunch with the boys, then attend the concert, then return home. It’s a long day, but a fun day.
This past concert, Scott was working in Austin, so he couldn’t attend. A long road trip is always more fun with company in the car, so I invited my “new Texan” sister in law Kathleen to join me! She was eager for an adventure and told me she had always wanted to see the boys perform. We talked and giggled all the way there. FUN!
We had a super easy drive and met the boys at their favorite restaurant, Fuego Tortilla Grill. I love cheetos, so I decided to be a crazy college student and try a “Good Golly Miss Molly”. It is a mac and cheese, smoked brisket, jack and cheddar cheese and cheeto taco in a flour tortilla. It was weird to say the least….not bad, but I wounldn’t get it again! I’ll be ordering my favorite next time, the Southern Comfort.
While waiting for concert time, Kathleen and I walked around my favortie college campus just exploring. It was a perfect Texas spring day!
We couldn’t resist some fun photos at the Rudder visitor center!
We didn’t expect Scott to be able to get away from work long enough to join us for the concert. He drove from Austin, watched the concert, then drove back. He was a total surprise. One of the boy’s friends saw Scott buying his ticket and texted John and Kyle. They came out of the warm up to get a hug from their Dad. I teared up then and again typing this!
They sounded amazing! Really fun program. Thanks Dr. Rhea!
